Parents Build Spiritual Homes

1.Setting A Standard In Your Home

Joshua 24:15 NIV “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Read more…

What Prayer Can Do!

Luke 11:1

“Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

  • Why this request? Why not ask to walk on the water or raise the dead? Why not ask Jesus to teach something more spectacular or more powerful? Read more…

What Can God Do?

What Can God Do?

Hebrews 11:1 (Voice)

“Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen.”

Hebrews 11:1-2 (TLB)

“What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. Men of God in days of old were famous for their faith. Read more…

The Forgotten Quality

This is the quality of heart! John Madden said he figured out why he doesn’t play golf well! He doesn’t care! It bothers him so much when he plays, that he figured out how not to be bothered! Just don’t care! One way that many of us deal with the pressures and challenges of life are to adopt this mentality. We decide that we just won’t care! We lose heart! We become heartless! The effort to restore heart throughout the scriptures is an important one. You might say that time and time again we find that people in the scriptures forget about their heart. It becomes the forgotten quality. This study can help each of us restore it to its rightful place. Proverbs 27:19 “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.” Read more…

We Have Hope

We Have Hope

Why do large ships on the ocean need an anchor?
Once we were on a ferry boat from Port Angeles to Canada. The ocean waves were so rough, people began falling. We heard over the mic “everyone take your seat” and “hold on.” All you saw was water out the window!! The boat was rocking back and forth so much…..scary moment!

What is our anchor…..what keeps our emotions and feelings and faith steady, sure, through tough times….. Read more…

Dare To Love

WHAT DO I REALLY LOVE:

Eccl. 5:10
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.

Psalms 52:3
You love evil more than good and lies more than truth.

Psalms 4:2
How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods.

Psalms 52:4
You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue!

Proverbs 17:19
He who loves a quarrel loves sin; he who builds a high gate invites destruction.

Falling In Love With God

We need to develop the LOVE to be a Christian:

One thing Judy and I have realized over the 37 years we have been married: make a decision on what kind of marriage we want to have! Do we LOVE being married? Do we LOVE being married to one another or will we just be roommates, tolerate each other, just exist in a marriage that has become routine, boring, shallow, one that’s lost its fire but “we are still committed!”
  • Loving to be a Christian WHEN we are all by ourselves!
  • Loving to be a Christian when sin tempts us and wants to control us!
  • Loving to be a Christian when we are tested in our faith?
  • Do we love church more than we love our relationship with God?
  • Do you enjoy and “delight” in your relationship w God?
  • Is your day centered around loving God?

Deep Convictions

1 Thessalonians 1:5

“For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.”

Q: What does it mean to have Deep Convictions?
Q: What are things we do that do not require deep convictions? – chores around the house….making your bed each day? – cleaning the house – shopping for food
– others?
Q: What does require us to have deep convictions or a level of convictions to do? – our finances and bills
– serious health issues
– driving on 2 lane road with oncoming traffic
