The Place of Prayer

The Precedence of Prayer:

Acts 16:13-15

On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.”
Precedence: The condition of being considered more important than someone or something else; priority in importance, order, or rank.
synonyms: take priority over, be considered more important/urgent than, outweigh, supersede, prevail over, come before.

The Vine and the Branches

LIFE ON THE VINE  Jesus says in John 15:7, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” I have been on a quest to understand this promise of asking and have concluded that Jesus is referring to the prayers of the vine: prayers that are instinctively in alignment with God’s will because remaining on the vine is the one and only object of one’s desire. Notice how many times Jesus says the word remain in these verses. John 15:5-7 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches.  If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Parents Build Spiritual Homes

1.Setting A Standard In Your Home

Joshua 24:15 NIV “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

What Can God Do?

What Can God Do?

Hebrews 11:1 (Voice)

Hebrews 11:1-2 (TLB)

“What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. Men of God in days of old were famous for their faith.

The Forgotten Quality

This is the quality of heart! John Madden said he figured out why he doesn’t play golf well! He doesn’t care! It bothers him so much when he plays, that he figured out how not to be bothered! Just don’t care! One way that many of us deal with the pressures and challenges of life are to adopt this mentality. We decide that we just won’t care! We lose heart! We become heartless! The effort to restore heart throughout the scriptures is an important one. You might say that time and time again we find that people in the scriptures forget about their heart. It becomes the forgotten quality. This study can help each of us restore it to its rightful place. Proverbs 27:19 “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”

We Have Hope

We Have Hope

Once we were on a ferry boat from Port Angeles to Canada. The ocean waves were so rough, people began falling. We heard over the mic “everyone take your seat” and “hold on.” All you saw was water out the window!! The boat was rocking back and forth so much…..scary moment!

What is our anchor…..what keeps our emotions and feelings and faith steady, sure, through tough times…..
